My draft SDA July newsletter

Dear Comrades,

Every time, I promise to be short and fail miserably.

Sam Doten, the chair of the Minnesota Democratic Socialist Caucus, saved us as he sent a quick report that I incorporated into the newsletter.

As I talk to many Democratic Party Chair around the United States, I realize considerable are Warren or Bernie Democrats. I am jealous.

It seems that many AFL-CIO affiliates nationwide actively participate in their local Democratic or Republican party. DSA and the Working Families parties in California present candidates at every level of the Democratic apparatus. In New York State, we cannot get our act straight.

Our New York Liberals will use every dirty trick in their books, and the New York media will share their version with the United States. When an outgoing candidate successfully beats the Democratic Socialist nominee in a write-in campaign using the Democratic apparatus, it sets the tone.

The Spanish elections and what it means for SDA

The Spanish election took place, and the President of the Socialist International will remain the President of the European Union as long as he remains the Spanish Prime Minister.

EU President Pedro Sanchez and US President Joe Biden

When liberal democrats or republicans denigrate us, we have until December 31, 2023, to remind them that the President of the European Union is Socialist, secretary general of the PSOE, Pedro Sanchez.

The next EU president will be Belgium Prime Minister Liberal International Alexander De Croo.

Report on the Minnesota Democratic Socialist Caucus

In Minnesota, the Democratic Socialist Caucus has been slowly plugging away. They had a membership retreat last Saturday where they spent time setting goals to focus our efforts.

They have a broad range of democratic socialist candidates running in the municipal elections this year in Minneapolis, St Paul, and Duluth.

(covering about 10% of the state’s population). Our DSC comrades plan to regularly attend campaign events for democratic socialist candidates this fall, especially at door-knocking canvasses.

Minnesota Caucuses, mark your Minnesotan calendar!

Tuesday, February 27, 2024, is a significant date because it’s the precinct caucuses in Minnesota.

All party endorsements, delegates, the platform, and officer positions begin with this process, which is a neighborhood meeting.

(or run to be a delegate) to conventions that will endorse candidates and elect delegates to further conventions and DFL governance bodies including electing members of the DFL State Central Committee which elects the state party officers.

Recruitment letter to the 1,800 New York City Democratic Party County Committee member

This Spanish victory will allow me to send to the 1,800 elected members of the New York City Democratic County Committee a letter explaining their role as members of the Democratic Party County Committee and the role of our Socialist International President, Pedro Sanchez.

In 2019, I sent the county committee members a letter asking each member to sign a petition to add the Green New Deal to the agenda of the Manhattan Democratic Party.

The response by the Liberal wing of the Democratic party was: “We strongly encourage that you DO NOT sign and return these petitions until further notice.”

The meeting was violent, where candidates accused each other of Sexual Impropriety and corruption — anything not to discuss the Green New Deal.

Eliza Orlins, a local TV reality contestant and a Progressive District Attorney candidate, recorded the pulse of the 2022 meeting in a few tweets. The press was absent, and the New York Lieutenant governor gave a mediocre speech.

Hopefully, this year, we will be able to recruit more progressives to our Socialist ranks.

Asking the United Nations to host the New York City County Committee members

We are organizing a preparatory meeting for this year. I wrote to our comrade, the UN secretary general, asking him to invite both the Democratic & Republican county committees to the United Nations.

Such a meeting takes time to prepare, but we must start somewhere.

“Draft AOC 2024” or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for President

The number of people willing to work to get AOC on the ballot is growing too slowly. We only have 31 volunteers, which is very short of the 3000 needed to create change.

Without a Socialist candidate, we will call a non-endorsement vote for Biden since RFK, Jr, or Mariane Williamson do not represent our Socialist Values.

We won’t be reaching for SDA members to vote for Socialist Cornel West since he has decided to run outside the Democratic Party by representing both the People’s Party and the Green Party.

We have about 45 days to draft AOC.

The fight inside Amazon Labor

Two factions of Amazon Labor Unions are fighting each other in court; now, everything is public. To use Socialists, this kind of fighting is nothing new and goes back to the late 1800s, but it has severe consequences that the parties do not understand.

This case has all the usual American racial hallmark undertone where a group of white comrades is forcing elections on a group of black leaders.

Justice is blind in America, and New Yorkers bite their tongue on these innuendos. Sitting from the galley and observing the hearing, these human perceptions can’t be ignored and must be reported if we want to end racial misunderstanding. This case is a very loaded case cloaked in democratic principles.

It’s terrible for the workers because the only winner here will be Amazon. The press doesn’t analyze these human elements in their reporting.

As an activist, I am used to being patronized by these particular lawyers. These Amazon lawyers are the same ones that control the Democratic party. They are excellent lawyers but are unfortunately consumed by their appearances in the media.

As a long-time member of the Socialist Party, I tried to talk to both leaders, Chris Small and Justine Medina, who were more interested in their egos than the movement.

That is why I stood up and offered for SDA to mediate between the parties.

Many documents were released to the public, including the mediator’s letter, Bill Fletcher, Jr.

https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67596293/sylla-v-amazon-labor-union.

The following episodes of this Amazon saga are August 14, September 13, and September 28.

Because both parties hate SDA so much, I hope the judge might see value in us mediating between the parties.

This case is another publicity stunt by Labor Lawyer Arthur Schwartz.

Arthur Schwartz, Amazon Labor Union, the New York County Democratic Party, and Bernie Sanders.

Arthur Schwartz is a fixture of the Labor movement and a publicity hog and the founder of the New York Progressive Action Network.

We need to give him credit where credit is due, and we got Bernie because of him, but today, he has become more of a roadblock to the emergence of Social Democracy in the United States than anything else.

He was the law chair that suggested in 2019 that the newly elected County Committee could not vote.

I hope Arthur’s grip on the New York progressives will fade away now that NYPAN and Our Revolutions have parted ways and allow us, Socialists, to recruit.

Arthur is not a Socialist, so he doesn’t understand that the movement is more significant than the individual. I have seen many progressives trained by Arthur go through the motions saying the right thing while not believing it.

We Socialists care about the outcome, not who obtained the result.

Yes, there have been Socialists figures through the ages, and AOC is a big one today, but as time goes on, she will become what many DSA congresspeople before her have become. Nydia Velazquez, Jerry Nadler, and Adriano Espaillat, over time, have become Liberals.

New York City Democratic Congressional Delegation

It’s up to us, Socialists, to keep her on the strait and narrow.

Former Haitian Senator visiting Boston Massachusetts State Representative Mike Connolly

Former Haitian Senator and member of the Socialist International Presidium, Edmonde Supplice Beauzile, was visiting Boston.

Senator Supplice Beauzile and I tried to set up a meeting with State Representative Connolly in Boston about joining SDA.

The request for a meeting went unanswered.

The French Socialist Yearly summer conference and Socialism 2023 in Chicago

As a member of the French Socialist Party, I participate every year in the Socialists’ summer conference.

French Socialists from French Overseas in 2019

This year I will present to my French comrades the report of everything I have learned about how it works and the hope that we are not lost here in the US and that the United States is not a Liberal bastion.

However, perusing the Socialism 2023 website, I came across one of the endorsers, which set the tone for what we should expect at the conference.

We must forge our path between the Liberal Democrats and the Revolutionary League.

In solidarity,

Hasta la victoria, ¡siempre!
