Dear Comrades,
Here is the SDA April newsletter.
I must admit that each month is weirder than the previous one. In a way, it’s perfect for the movement because it puts us in the spotlight.
It doesn’t matter which leftist organization prospective comrades join as long as they ultimately enter the decision body of the Democratic party body as explained by Michael Harrington.
Next National Zoom Meeting, May 3rd, 9 pm East / 6 pm West.
The next National SDA zoom meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 6 pm West.
Friday at 8 am Eastern, the Socialist International organizes a round-table on the Future of Work.
As part of the efforts of the Socialist International to develop a progressive agenda and framework for addressing current and potential future challenges to workers’ rights and the promotion of decent work around the world, it is expected that the first round-table on the Future on Work would set the key issues and propose progressive policy responses to addressing the complex challenges to workers’ rights in this technological era.

The meeting will be interpreted in English, Spanish, and French.
We are looking for a coalition of progressive caucuses in each state.
We discovered two state leaders that call themselves Socialists inside the Democratic party. They are leaders of progressive organizations with branches and regular meetings.
We are discussing a potential bi-monthly Zoom meeting to discuss our difficulties in mobilizing activists and keeping them engaged in the off-season.
demcaususes@join.socialists.us to have them join our zoom meeting.
Remastering the 1984 Michael Harrington on “Whose Party Is It, Anyway?” when referring to the Democratic Party.
We posted a remastered version of the audio without the background annoying background electric hum that can be heard on C-SPAN recording.
The vital message that Michael gave us is at the beginning of the presentation, and in 40 years, it feels like we are where we were 40 years ago.
“[…] we have to grow up! That what we need in the United States is not a third party, a second party or a first party but a Party. That is to say we have in the United States no political institution, in which members work out a program which is presented to the public, and in which the elected officials of that institution then follow out the program, and pass it into law. It doesn’t exist. And that is not true simply the Democratic party it’s true or the Republican party.”
That is the reason Socialists Democrats of America don’t endorse candidates. SDA trains prospective candidates.
Socialist International and Progressive Alliance.
I had the privilege to meet the new Secretary General of the Socialist International, Benedicta Lasi, and the International Coordinator of the Progressive Alliance, Conny Reuter, during the 80th French Socialist Congress in Marseille.
Since our inception, SDA has applied to replace DSA at the Socialist International. However, due to a lot of drama from Texas and Buffalo, two organizations, Social Democrats USA and us, applied for that American Socialist International spot.
The previous Socialist International leadership invited SDUSA. Below you will find their report of the Madrid Congress.
The 2023 New York City Council & New York County Democratic Party upcoming ballot …
Several Social Democrats of America candidates are on the ballot for various positions inside the Democratic Party.
One SDA member, Paperboy Love Prince, is running against Jennifer Gutiérrez. Two potential future SDA members are running in other districts against other fake Progressives candidates.
SDA doesn’t endorse candidates; however, we will invite you, the members, to consider specific candidates with potential progressive platforms. However, this will not guarantee they will follow through on that platform.
On the Democratic partisan front, several SDA candidates made it on the ballot. They will be pushing for a resolution for the New York County leader to endorse the replacement of New York State Party Leader Jay Jacobs.
https://replacejayjacobs.com/letter
Replace Jay Jacob website explains how the New York State Democratic Party lost the house to Kevin McCarthy.
The rumor is that Jay Jacobs will resign at the May 11 New York State Democratic meeting. We know his replacement will be bad.
When AOC beat Joe Crowley, Queens Democrats replaced him with Gregory Meeks. When Brooklyn Franck Sedio resigned, Brooklyn Democrats replaced him with Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn.
The same plays out everywhere across the United States, and we need to run candidates across the 3,600 counties.
‘Communist’ group leading …
The article is pure fiction.
“Good Cause Eviction” includes Socialists and left-leaning liberals.
COINTELPRO days.
If you want to know more about DSA Julia Salazar good cause eviction bill, you can read it here: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2019/S2892 .
One must remember that the New York Post is part of the Fox News empire, and they will use any tested technique to sway the pendulum toward the extreme right.

We are not Communists, we are Socialists.
Most of the characters in the NY Post stories are DSA members without ideologies.
They are all as fake as Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema.
These New York politicians’ national notoriety is very different from the local New York reality.
Paperboy and I are currently petitioning as Social Democrats to get on the City Council ballot in November.
socdems@team.repmyblock.org and create a Rep My Block username.
Our goal is to get on the ballot Democrats and Socialists to get elected as National DNC delegates to the 2024 Chicago Convention.
The power of the rose …
(In French)
DSA political director, in her Democratic Left report, answers the question about the Power of the Rose.
I have asked the Socialist historian to draft an answer to this statement. Yes, it has become a symbol of Socialism, but it did not happen overnight.
“This is a global symbol of socialism, and in the United States historically has been used both by women’s suffragists and striking women workers to demand not just the bread to survive, but the “roses” to thrive.”
The Socialist’s network is vast, and some experts immediately picked up that the yellow roses represented the US suffragist movement while anti-suffragists showed red roses to show their opposition to their campaign.

The fight for our symbol will continue.
In solidarity,
Hasta la victoria, ¡siempre!
